I've just completed the SPACE training and I'm interested in providing it through schools. I'm wondering if I could consult with folks who have succesfully delivered SPACE through school as I have some logistical questions and considerations. If I can reach out to you, please let me know.
I am a clinical social worker and part of my practice is in an independent school, 1-8th grade, whose focus population are students with language-based learning disabilities and executive functioning difficulties. However a significant number of our students also come with co-presentations of anxiety disorders and OCD. This was part of the reason I took the training. I am about to start my first SPACE parent group working with 8 adults representing five families. I am planning for the group to meet for 15 sessions for 90 minutes weekly (all the adults signed on fully agreeing with the commitment). Interest was high in my community- I have a waiting list of twenty five families. I am interested in talking and consulting with any other clinicians who have conducted the SPACE training for parents in a group setting.
Hi: I am a school psychologist and was trained to use SPACE in June 2021. I love the approach and find it to be highly effective with my parents within the public schools and within my private practice. I am also looking forward to using some of the main attributes: 1) Increase Support and 2) Decrease Accomodation with teachers and staff members at school this year. I feel that this is an important and effective message to help teachers of anxious students. Something to explore further, together, if anyone is interested.
I recently finished reading Breaking Free of Child Anxiety and OCD. I have also read many of your articles, Dr. Lebowtiz. In the book, you talk about reducing family accommodations and give many good examples. What examples would you give regarding the reduction of family accommodations related to school avoidance? I imagine that parents could ensure that they reduce their behavior that allows that child to engage in preferable activities (e.g., TV, video games, cell phone, taking the child to fun activities). Have you written any articles specifically on anxiety and school avoidance and strategies to reduce family accommodation specific to this issue? Do others have ideas on this topic?
Tricia and Glen, I am a school counselor and LMFT. I did the training in October and am using it with individual families. I am just about to start my first group. If you ever want to collaborate, feel free to reach out at jenniferkueblermft@gmail.com.
Hi Eli. I'm a school counsellor and I'm considering taking your course in December 2020. I will need a detailed outline in order to apply for reimbursement from my employer. Can you provide a detailed outline?

Yes, there are already school psychologists and counselors who are trained in SPACE and use it in their work. Eli
